Judge Nia Davies is a poet and editor of Poetry Wales. She has co curated and participated in several transcultural collaborations, projects and events and her work has been widely translated. Her most recent publications are All fours (Bloodaxe Books, 2017), England (Crater, 2017) and Interversions (Poetrywala, 2018) which documents her collaboration with Kannada poet Mamta Sagar.
In the 1930s, the friends and enemies of democracy thought the legislative branch was the great problem. They believed the main reason democracies could not solve the great problems of the day was parliaments could not effectively govern. The fulcrum of my book is Congress because its policy achievements falsified the common claim at the time that national legislatures were incapable.
The proposed research seeks to accomplish three goals: (1) Increase retention in Engineering among racially underrepresented engineering students by extending three successful summer bridge models and transition programming to four regional campuses in the Pennsylvania State University system, (2) Develop long term sustainability plans for these programs, and (3) Compare the efficacy of different bridge models. The primary outcome measure is retention in baccalaureate Engineering majors following the Entrance to Major process at the beginning of Year 3. A secondary measure is retention in STEM majors..

The online tool is built within MENTOR’s Mentoring Connector and contains a 92 question self assessment that is aligned to the Fourth Edition of the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring. During the self assessment, programs indicate whether each item is “in practice” or “out of practice”, and rate their current practice to identify areas of strength and improvement. The online tool then supports programs and their local MENTOR affiliates in generating a custom work plan, which provides the basis of the training and support that affiliates provide to programs to help improve their practices.
