October 01, 2003By David Zurawik David Zurawik,SUN TELEVISION CRITICKaren Sisco (Carla Gugino), the lead character in the ABC cop drama of the same name, is one of the fall season’s more intriguing newcomers. She drinks hard, packs heat in a sexy ankle holster, shoots straight, wears Ray Ban sunglasses, and is one of the biggest daddy’s girls you’d ever want to meet.I’m beginning to think this daddy’s girl theme might turn out to be one of the more culturally significant leitmotifs of the new season. Since the days of Bewitched and That Girl, television has consistently reacted in strange and symbolic ways to female empowerment in the larger culture, and I think we might have some of that going on here.Forget the new young female characters who hear voices, like Joan in the new CBS drama Joan of Arcadia.
I witnessed one of the worst fires of my life and I’m very sad at what happened in the Village of Wappingers Falls, said Dutchess County Legislator Francena Amparo. Want to thank our first responders and all of the fire companies who helped put the fire out. It was long and grueling.

Barron County (WQOW) For a rural community, the Barron Area School District has quite a diverse student body, thanks in large part to the town’s Somali immigrant and refugee population.A population that’s still coming to terms with President Trump’s recent executive order on immigration. That’s because Somalia is 1 of the 7 Muslim majority countries the President has banned citizens from entering the United States for the next 90 days and suspended the admission of all refugees for 120 days.”There have been families that are directly impacted by that here in the district,” Superintendent Craig Broeren told News 18 Thursday. “Whether it be fear or concern about what lies ahead, or actually separation of family members.”Broeren said after the executive order was signed, he asked to staff to pay extra attention to their Somali students in case they were emotional or anxious about it.
Don mind cleaning up the areas, even if they get really dirty sometimes, Erasmo said. A disabled person, I would always go for a walk once a week to get out of the house for a bit and while walking I would always notice the trash. Now I get to go on a walk and give back to my community by picking up the trash.
